Kinda lousy, I know.
However, I have been kinda busy. Besides strating to do some workout again at a local fitness-centre AND having to live through the usual end-of-term-stress at university, I've been to the Sonisphere-Festival last weekend.
Even though the lineup did sound very interesting, I have to admit that it was the headliner - Metallica - who I'd decided on driving 550 km due north.
After a rather traffic-heavy travel, my bf and I finally arrived at the Formula1-circuit and we were just in time to watch the German Folk-Metal-band In Extremo perform. Unfortunately they remained behind what they're capable of, or so I heard, and I think it might have been the slot around midday, when most people were trying to get something to eat.
After that The Prodigy took over, and even though I kinda like their music, I'd have NEVER expected them to perform the way they did. It was fabulous, everyone was dancing and shaking, even though it was REALLY hot by then (weather forecast had told me it was going to rain...not a single drop the whole day ^^).
Then we got something to eat and missed Die Toten Hosen, another (and rather legendary) German band, but since punk never really was my genre I was able to cope with that.
15 minutes after the announced strating time, the stage went dark and Metallica's usual intro - The Ecstasy of Gold - was played. What followed then were nearly two full hours of Metallica goodness.
It was a little Death Magnetic - heavy (Broken, Beat&Scarred, All Nightmare Long, My Apocalypse, Cyanide), but that's okay if one remembers this is still part of the ongoing World Magnetic-Tour. They played rather much from the Black Album (imagine Nothing Else Matters sung by 36.000 people...it was simply breathtaking), three sings from Ride, unfortunately only one from Master (I'd have LOVED to hear Sanitarium...or Orion), Seek&Destroy from Kill 'Em All, One from Justice and Fuel from Reload. They also played a song by Queen, and I THINK it was Stone COld Crazy, but it was a little hard to identify.
And a minute or so from Beat It.
It was simply great. They had so much energy, and you could grasp the fun the four of them had on stage. That plus their great stage presence made the evening truly unforgettable. So, in spite of the mother of all colds I caught - probably from the following night spent in the car due to us not having a place to sleep at - and the approximately 1100km of driving (550 up, 550 down) - I'd do it all again, and I REALLY hope they'll be returning to Austria or Germany very, very soon.
Other than that, there's not much to say right now, so I'll go back to studying and write more later
Have a nice evening,
Pia
